Tonight, Friday January 22nd marks the first of a series of three Tea-Party hosted forums for the GOP Congressional Candidates in the 5th District. It is slated to take place at Lane Auditorium, 401 McIntire Road in Charlottesville from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. The Schilling Show Blog confirms the rumored absence of Candidate Robert Hurt at this event. However the remaining six candidates plan to be there.

Here is a list of each candidate in the race:

Ken Boyd, Albemarle County Supervisor
Ron Ferrin, Campbell County Resident
Robert Hurt, State Senator (R-Chatham)
Jim McKelvey, Franklin County Real Estate Developer
Mike McPadden, North Garden Resident and Commercial Airline Pilot
Feda Morton, Fluvanna County Biology Teacher and Past-School Board Member
Laurence Verga, Albemarle County Resident and Business Owner

The remaining two Tea-Party hosted forums will be held: in Lynchburg on Saturday, February 27th and in Danville on Saturday, March 20th.

These are excellent opportunities to hear the candidates answer questions posed by Tea Party Patriots in their own words. Review each candidate’s biography and positions at their campaign websites. Then, move past the commercial sound bytes and campaign slogans and get your particular questions answered.

With many waving the conservative banner, there is talk of a possible “Conservative Convention” being held this spring. This would hope to determine the favorite conservative choice amongst the GOP Candidates. Of those who wish to participate, the chosen candidate would remain in the race, while the others stepped down, giving conservatives one solid “conservative” choice in the GOP Primary Election. At this time there is nothing to confirm this event will take place.

The District-wide Primary Election will be held Tuesday, June 8th to determine which candidate will represent the Republican Party in opposition to Congressman Tom Perriello. The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 2nd.

Now is the time to educate yourselves on the candidates so you can make an informed decision at the ballot box before November.
